You inevitably use those WMs to host GNOME apps anyway, so why bother
(BTW, XFCE is GTK based and fully GNOME complient).

Funny thing is, if someone did something solely because Linus said so,
Linus would probably be the first person to tell them that it was a
crappy reason.
