This is a stock Mandrake 8.0 install using only install-time 
options and kernel 2.4.3.

A couple of weeks after the install, after I was sure everything 
I was going to use a lot was working, I did the automatic 
upgrade schtick. But, like I said, it was all working before the 
upgrades. I understand there is an 8.1 available to patch 
something that wasn't worth remembering for me but I haven't 
gotten it.
