As long as Travans are on the brain: I personally own a Travan (SCSI)
because it was free. At work, I just got rid of two travans (going to users) that
were in servers. My Travan at home, while backing up, gets too hot to touch
for more than 15 seconds. The work tape drives are in a room with climate
control, and both have exceedinly large amounts of air flow over the tape
drive itself, so it's more difficult to tell if it is warm. Is that normal?
Should my travan be so hot? Is there something wrong with it? It operates
normally (although it doesn't "see" 10/20 GB tapes)and I can extract data from
it, I just worry that it's so hot.

Ah, I am so excited. I just replaced dual travans with an IBM DDS-4 tape
drive. Let's see... Travan speed: 30-40 MB a minute. IBM speed: 150-170
MB/minute. Ah.......
