a lot of notebook graphics chips use shared memory... and all SMA (shared 
memory arch.) chips are slow(well at least slower than a similar chip with 
dedicated video memory)... especially laptop vid chips.... which are already 
slower than their desktop counterpart.....

SMA video using 32 megs wouldn't surprise me at all... what is the laptop 
specifically? (brand/manufacturer)
