[KLUG Members] FTP code page question

Can you tell FTP to use a different code page than whatever default code
page it uses?

My problem is this:  When I view the file I see this character ¥ when I
expect to see this character: Ñ.

I am transferring a file from my Linux box to an IBM mainframe.  I see the ¥
character both on my Linux box and the mainframe after a standard ftp
session.

A co-worker has a windows box with Host explorer installed and he changed
the code page being used from English to Spanish and the Ñ appeared as we
expected.

Any ideas?
