VMware seems less intrusive, when I tried win4lin it wanted to do all kinds of
things to my kernel. That made me unhappy.

win4lin only does Win9x, no NT, 2000, XP. A show stopper IMHO.

vmware also does other operating systems: BSD, Linux, OS/2, etc... I frequently
run Linux in vmware on Linux as it is nice to have a virtual machine to trash,
or appear on the network offering some service, without messing with any of my
"real" hosts. You get to pretend your using a mainframe.

vmware has some host-only network features which are nice for simulations.
