[KLUG Members] Help! mouse problems!

Okay fellas, here's a fun one for you:

My linux box suddenly does not like it's mouse.  It boots fine, etc, runs,
but when gpm starts, it evidently intercepts all the keyboard input, as well
as mouse input, and ignores it.  So, when gpm starts, I can no longer type
on the keyboard.  or move the mouse, for that matter. What does this mean?
If I type a lot of gobbledygook on the keyboard when gpm ius running, it
doesn't appear, but as soon as you kill it, the text shows up on the screen.
This is annoying, esp. since the ethernet card wasn't working earlier
either.

Have any of you had this problem before?
