Greetings Members

We are reaching the end of the year. That means that it is once again time to
elect the officers of our group. The current list of official positions that
are filled every year can be found at the following link.

The elected positions are Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Recording
Secretary. The remainder of the positions are all volunteer positions by
appointment.

What is KLUG? The Kalamazoo Linux Users Group as with the open source community
is the sum of the efforts of the Volunteers who contribute to it. Decisions to
use Linux and participate in volunteer organizations like KLUG are the building
blocks of our open source community. So does that mean you should evaluate what
gains you get from the community and try to give back accordingly? Maybe not.
I feel the important thing is to give to the community in ways that you will
benefit from yourself. You can write code, document software, and you also have
the choice to volunteer your time and effort into this local group. We have
many ways that you can assist us that vary in skill level and commitment.

With the new year approaching please consider increasing your participation with
the efforts of linux community. There are many ways that you can contribute.
Most of the people who are contributing now do so in a way that they value on a
personal level. I hope that you will be willing to do the same. Also, if you
would like to nominate yourself or someone else for an elected position, the
following is a link to a web form so you can do just that. If you are
interested in one of the non-elected positions, please e-mail the elections
committee at elections@kalamazoolinux.org.

Thank you for your time. I hope to hear from you.
