KLUG lists FAQ -
The purpose of the FAQ will be to remind everyone of our list guidelines
and which lists are available. We encourage everyone to think about what
list would be most appropriate for their message.
KLUG currently has the following lists available:
Members - The main KLUG mailing list
Novices - A list for Linux beginners to ask questions
OS-discuss - Pro's & cons of operating systems
Phpsig - Discussion of PHP web programming
Speakers - Speakers and presentation topics
Hardware - A list for hardware discussions
Inschool - A list for the Linux in schools project
IMPORTANT: To send to any of our mailing lists, please make sure you follow
the following guidelines:
* In order to belong to any mailing list, please join the "members" mailing
list first. Similarly, if you wish to drop of the general mailing list,
please terminate your subscription to all other mailing lists. We do not
want to break up our membership into many unconnected lists, and want a
common point of contact for everyone.
* You must send messages to the lists from the same email address as you are
subscribed to the lists. The list server will reject all email from anyone
who is not subscribed to the lists to help eliminate spam.
* Please - no HTML messages.
* The list server will not accept email sent to the list that is sent while
you are logged on as the user "root". Please send from a non-root user
account.
* There are some "special" email addresses that the list server will reject
all email from unconditionally. You should see all emails you send to
the lists sent back to you. If you do not, please contact us and we will
work with you to diagnose the situation.
* We do not accept and cannot support advertising messages on these mailing
lists. Advertising is a message intended to solicit commerce for the
benefit of the sender. The officers of KLUG, and operators of the KLUG
mailing lists shall be the sole judges of what constitutes advertising.
Anyone violating this limitation will be warned, and if the practice
continues, other action, up to and including removal from the mailing
lists, will be forthcoming.
In no case will this restriction apply to specific recommendations
regarding the performance of hardware or software, or alerting the mailing
lists as a whole about particularly interesting pricing or equipment
availability, as long as it is fairly clear that there is no connection
between the author of the message and the merchants under discussion.
Problems, questions or suggestions related to the lists can be sent to:
listmaster@kalamazoolinux.org.
Thanks for supporting KLUG!
