[KLUG Members] PHP and Mysql defaults

Stock Redhat 7.1 comes with mysql and/or postgresql (both supported by IMP),
and PHP4 with support for both databases along with IMAP support (also 
required by IMP).  I don't know about slackware.

I've found compiling PHP with support for everything needed can be a
nightmare and I will personally avoid it whenever possible.
