Right, because they aren't.

The defaults should be fine.  You need to have kernel headers, and gcc, and 
binutils packages installed (obviously)

I am running the latest 2.x VMware on a recent BS-Ware PRO all XFS box for 
several hours a day.  So it does work.  The modules built without complaint.
