Yeah I know

Each modem has a static IP address assigned to it. It is given via
charter's dhcp server but it was aranged so that the MAC's of our modems and
NIC's are assigned the same IP address every time.

Currently for internal I use a private IP address and use NAT and Masq to
provide the access to the outside world. Squid is there to provide limited
security to require a username and password to access the Internet.

The modems are connected directly in to the Nic via streight through cables
so no hubs or switches.

I was thinking I would throw a third ethernet card in to the box adjust from
there. Is that the right path to explor or is there a "better" way of doing
it.
