There is a race condition.  It will only affect performance as you
add a number of clients.  They way ReiserFS organizes meta-data and
the say NFS (among other UNIX services, like quota) expects it to be
organized are different.  As such, patches are needed for
performance.

I haven't heard too many issues with Linux-to-Linux services,
especially when the kernels match.  But once you start adding other
OSes as clients, espect issues.
