The SuSE stock kernel is usaully pretty realiable. Its when you roll your
own that you'll start to run into problems.

The module problem might be as simple as in alias in the modules.conf in
etc. I had this problem when the kernel changed a module name from
rtl8139 to 8139too. I added an alias for 8139too and it fixed the
problemo.

Im not sure what your problem with VMWare is but I have run VMWare on SuSE
7.1. Are you saying that it ran before but not now?

I wish I could help more. Im a SuSE fan.
