Thanks for the good info.  It's really true that if it "ain't broke, don't 
fix it", since my system has been purring like a kitten with Suse 7.1 and KDE 
2.1.  I read there was a problem with that kernel and VIA mb.  On shutdown I 
get a seg fault at the end when it goes to run level 0.  It probably is of no 
consequence.  I also thought improved USB support would help me get my Kodak 
4800 camera hooked up w/o using windows. Plus it is fun to configure and 
compile a new kernel!
	Anyway I went back to the kernel config and found I didnt include a couple 
of ppp options, so I fixed that.  Vm ware won't setup with the new kernel so 
I need to get the latest(as someone on the list told me to do).  So I'm back 
to the old kernel for now.  
	I seems really important to keep an accessible text file with rarely used 
config and other commands so time isn't wasted relearning what one has 
figured out before.    Jon
