I'd say your chances are pretty good.  I also have a regular HD15 VGA 
output and run XGA 1024x768 on my laptop.

Is your presentation material portable?  If so, put it on CDR or floppy
and you can use my laptop if yours doesn't work.  Let me know if you 
need any special software loaded like StarOffice . . .
