FYI, this problem was my bad. A few minutes of noodling about with grep and
strings confirmed that the tidbits I got from the Samba team looked on the
money. So I poked "scriptPath: cis.bat" and "profilePath:
\\BARBEL\PROFILES\adam" into my LDAP object, logged onto a workstation, and
BALLA BING BALLA BOOM! Everything was working, and I'm back on the happy
trail.

So thats: PDC Authentication, Logon Scripts, Policies, Profiles, Printer
installation, Printer driver upload and automatic machine account creation all
purring away. Simply amazing.
