DSL in 49009 is pretty reliable. I haven't had it go down, though the
connection has reset a couple times since I got it. Using the 'persist'
option for pppd took care of that.

It seems odd using PPP and being on the 'net all the time, but Netfilter
and snort(8) don't seem to care.... :-)

The hardest part of the setup was that the first Speedstream (ethernet
out) died, and they wouldn't admit it (VERY frustrating--I knew in my
toes what those blinking lights meant but techs-abort wouldn't believe
me until after my *official* setup date.... grrrr.). Anyway, they got a
new one to me in a couple days, and once I refreshed my pppd know-how it
was a simple setup.

BTW, let me thank and plug www.dslreports.com for great information.
*They* knew what was wrong with my modem, too.... :)
