I know it is flame war material, but all my IBM Netfinities have an
aic7xxx channel (Adaptex 2940/7880) and they have worked flawlessly from
day one. The host that runs my house has a drive array connected via an
AIC-7850 and it too has worked without incident.

The Future Domain channel, on the other hand, blows chunks on a regular basis.
Fortunately I use that channel for removable media (4mm, 8mm, CDR, & CDW) and
don't much care.
