I am getting a rather persistant error message on the system log:
modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-180

When I got looking for a listing of these, I don't find them anywhere.
Rooting around kernel src was not too revealing, and a couple of
other attempts to look this up turned up nothing. Device assignments
seem to be rather haphazard.

Seems like it has to do with printing, and I suspect that creating 
one or more special character files with mknod, major number 180,
minor number probably corresponding in some way to the print device.
in any case, a little more information, if someone knows where to look
or simply has it between the ears, would be a Good Thing to share.
