Well, you now have an opportunity to learn ;^)
Seriously, it's probably not worth learning Perl just to do this; it
would be a lot more economical just to pay someone to do it.  However, 
if you are likely to come across this kind of problem again, it might 
be worth learning a little.  It looks like Justin did about 80-90% of 
the work for you already.  I'm sure there are several folks here who 
would help you debug if you run into problems.
