Seems like NFS on RH 7.1 was full of bugs.

I don't remember if RH released fixes for it, but you should check for
the latest kernel and NFS errata for 7.1.

4K or 8K gives improved performance, but I had one case where I had to
use 1K with the old server to make it work.

Also you may have to specify NFS version 2 with the old server.

Donno.  Doesn't look good.  You may want to force a fsck, or reformat.
