I've mostly used the 600MHz Celery laptop (~1100 BogoMIPS) with 189Mb of RAM, 
7200rpm IDE hard drive, "ATI Technologies Inc 3D Rage P/M Mobility AGP 2x", and
ALSA driving a "ESS Technology ES1983S Maestro-3i PCI Audio Accelerator".

Not a  "sled", but hardly rip-roaring by current standards.  Performace is VERY
good,  MUCH better than under GNOME 1.4.
