[KLUG Members] What is this snmp thing all about?

Oh yeah, almost forgot. You will probably see plenty of reference to ucd-snmp (as in Univ. of CA, Davis) and net-snmp. 
ucd-snmp and net-snmp are the same - development just moved from UCDavis to sourceforge. Basically, though, ucd-snmp referds to version 4.2.2 and lower, net-snmp refers to current 5.x series. The command are slightly different, but each version has its own tutorial:

net = http://net-snmp.sourceforge.net/tutorial-5/
