[!] Or just dump the updated kernel's in your NFS directory.

I think that's why they haven't bothered to update it (until 1.2's release is
official).  You can install with the 1.2pre1 installer for RedHat 8.0 to get the
"XFS filesystem creation," but still actually load the latest RPMs (e.g.,
1.2pre3) in the actual ./RedHat/RPMS directory.
