[KLUG Members] Temperature monitoring?

I'm looking for a thermometer device that plugs into a Linux PC and
reports the _room_ temperature.  Software to read it would be nice too.

Does such a thing exist?  Where?

I want Linux to send an email when the room exceeds a certain temp.
Or log in remotely and display the room temp.

We already own a device that calls phone numbers when temperature 
limits are exceeded, but I also want to be paged.  A stand-alone box
would be acceptable if nothing exists for a Linux PC.  TIA!
