On my IPCop firewall PC (486/100MHz), I added a 20-ohm/2-watt resistor
(or was it a 50-ohm?) in the fan supply wire to cut the fan noise level
considerably.

P.S.  To calculate the ohms and watts for the added resistor, I used
Ohm's law (V = I * R) and the info on the sticker on the fan.  Or maybe I
used my millimeter to measure the volts and milliamps???
