[KLUG Members] Peter Buxton offline for a bit...

I got a phone call about 2 hours ago from Peter Buxton, and he has
managed to create a kernel from which he cannot boot, due to a problem
with the Promise controller he is using. Apparently, other kernels he
has have the same problem; his prior working kernel seems to have been
remvoed by a "make install". Since this is his only machine, this takes
him off the net for a time. We spent a fair amount of time ont he phone
doing web-based searches, and found out some interesting (not not rel-
event to his problem) things about this chipset and the Linux drivers.
The phone call wrapped up with a notion that he should look at different
recovery options, and it seemed there wasn't much of a "magic bullet",
like a boot option, that would get things running again.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know, I may have a chance
to relay them tomorrow. THis is a 2.4.19 Kernel, fresh off the kernel.org
website...
