Actually, that doesn't tell me anything that I didn't pick up elsewhere.

It's weird, because if I update something with "gconftool-2 --set ...",
and then list it out with either gconftool-?, like: "gconftool-1 -R /",
the changes appear in both.

That's what Ximian says too:

http://support.ximian.com/cgi-bin/ximian.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php?p_search_text=&p_prod_lvl1=2

Then type "proxy" in the "Search Text (Optional)" box, click SEARCH, and
click on the only result found.

Yes, except I used "gconftool-2"  (and the changes appear in the listing
of both -1 & -2).   Regular "gconftool" is no longer a legal command
under Redhat 8.0.
