On my system:
grimace:10:30 PM:~# cdrecord -dev=0,0,0 -driveropts=help -checkdrive
Cdrecord 1.11a34 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jörg
Schilling
scsidev: '0,0,0'
scsibus: 0 target: 0 lun: 0
Linux sg driver version: 3.1.24
Using libscg version 'schily-0.6'
Device type : Removable CD-ROM
Version : 0
Response Format: 2
Capabilities :
Vendor_info : 'LITE-ON '
Identifikation : 'LTR-40125S '
Revision : 'ZS0G'
Device seems to be: Generic mmc CD-RW.
Driver options:
burnfree Prepare writer to use BURN-Free technology
noburnfree Disable using BURN-Free technology
forcespeed Tell the drive to force speed even for low quality media
grimace:10:35 PM:~#
So, 'burnproof' may indeed be an option somewhere... but not here. RGB's
(?) comment about RW media and older drives is probably Thompson's
trouble.
