Wow, an email from Alan Cox himself! Awesome!  Yeah, I found out that 
evidently that is what was going on .  I downloaded the fix for the 
FA311TX, compiled it in, and haven't looked back.  The odd part is the 
fact that the netgear problem didn't show it's face for the longest time, 
and I disable all power management in the BIOS, and kernel (does that even 
make sense??).

Anyway, it's working, and nicely, too.
