Hello,

Just joined this group as I recently upgraded my linux to
7.2 (from the Kalamazoo Linux CDs).

Need help from all the Gurus out there. My advance thanks.

I have been using redhat 6.2 for several years and loved it.
It was installed on a Gateway laptop. When I got the 7.2
CDs I was looking forward to using the new version.

I tried to upgrade that to 7.2 but must have goofed somehow
because the 7.2 installation program kept complaining that
/SWAP could not be used. Then I made a desperate move:
instead of upgrading I installed 7.2 from scratch, wiping
out my old 6.2. I've backed up all of my own data files but
unfortunately made the blunder of not backing up some
crucial system configuration files.

So now I got 7.2 up and running, but I lost my network
connections (together with a bunch of other newer software
that I'd installed).

When I tried to configure the network to add my ethernet
connection (using System -> Network Configuration -> Add ->
Ethernet), 7.2 failed to recognize the LAN PC card that I'd
been using sound and well with 6.2. First of all, my card
type (3Com 10/100 Lan PC Card Model 3CCFE574BT) is not among
the ones in the pull-down Adaptor list. I tried all of the
3Com ones listed there but none of them works. The error
message read:

The Ethernet card could not be initialized. Please
verify your settings and try again.

I suspect that I need to get a driver for my card but don't
know where to look. Also in the same screen of the Network
Adapters Configuration dialog box, there are various items
IRQ, MEM, IO, IO1, IO2, DMA0, DMA1 that have input entry
boxes but I am at a complete loss as to what to enter.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

mk
