You may want to consider using nfs instead of the ncp connection.  Novell has 
an nfs implementation for NetWare servers.  It is part of Unix Print Services 
for NetWare.  I have set that up in the past for people and it works really 
well.  You can export out parts of the Novell file system as nfs exports and 
then mount them from the Unix/Linux client.
