[KLUG Members] Satellite DNS problem

I recently got a DirecPC Dial Return satellite dish (my only broadband
solution at the moment) on my Windows laptop. But it's screwed up my
connection to my Linux box. I've just been using a HOSTS file for name
resolution on my laptop and on the Linux box. DNS was disabled in
Windows. But the satellite modem requires DNS to be enabled and
pointing to a DNS server at DirecPC. And the result is that I cannot
ping either way on my private network. If I disable DNS, then DirecPC
doesn't work. There doesn't seem to be any way to disable DNS for my
network card and enable it for the satellite modem at the same time.
It's either on for all or off for all.

Anybody have experience in fixing this?

Mike
