I know Bruce has posted a few notes on some issues he had with using
Ximian Gnome (which is still stuck at Mozilla 0.9.5) and trying to use
the RedHat 7.2 RPMs of Mozilla 0.9.7 from Mozilla.ORG. I _was_ running
RedHat 7.2 + Ximian Gnome from late December, and was hoping Ximian
would find time to release an update with the latest Mozilla schtuff.
I'm sure they are too busy trying to get Gnome 2.0 out the door by March
right now to bother.

I decided to take part of the day to finally "convert over" to Evolution
1.0 from Netscape Communicator. Of course, I didn't "compact" my
folders before doing so, which added a bit. ;-P Worked fine after I
re-wrote my ~100 filters (yeah, I know, I should just procmail 'em at my
server instead, and run IMAP-SSL ;-). I couldn't find a NS4 "mailrule"
to Evolution "filter.XML" script -- if anyone knows of one, please let
me know (although that matters little now that I converted it ;-).

After doing so, I went ahead and plopped Mozilla 0.9.7 from Mozilla.ORG
down, along with Galeon 1.0.2 from SourceForge.NET. All binaries, no
real issues so far. So it seems I didn't have the same issues that
bruce did. I also just grabbed the latest Ximian stuff (manually) from
my favorite mirror, everything dated January, including Evolution 1.0.1
now, and it seems to be fine.

BTW, I also got the latest "Plugger 4.0" binary (I was still running an
old 3.3 version), and reconfigured it for MPlayer (AVI, DivX, MPEG,
others), XAnim (QT), etc... I probably need to write a "Gnome Desktop
Surfers HOWTO" and cover [manual] installation of Ximian Gnome,
Mozilla+Galeon+GTM, and various plug-ins like the Flash, Shockware,
RealAudio and Acroread Plug-ins as well as Plugger 4.0
w/MPlayer+XAnim+Others.
