Again, I see lots of people running RedHat kernels with few oopses.
Same deal with SGI kernels. Both RedHat and SGI do both Samba _and_
*NFS* stress testing of them. NFS is the main reason why RedHat
doesn't support ReiserFS.
I think people also forget that you should _always_test_ a kernel
_extensively_ before putting it into production. I usually try to
find a user who wants the "latest 'n greatest" and unleach them with
it. I also try to "keep current" myself.
Now with small offices that have only 1 Linux box (like the server),
I know that's a bit difficult. But you should _always_ have a
"backup" system anyway, even if its the sysadmin's desktop PC. It
never hurts to buy a similarly configured desktop PC (short of the
storage/backup components) when you buy a server**. You never know
when you might need to "swap" a component at a moment's notice. ;-P
