GNOME (especially version 2) uses SVG extensively,  including for icons.  SVG 
is nice, as like Truetype fonts,  the images can be scaled 'infinitely'.

Check the Mozilla plugin section,  some of the SVG plugins are incompatible 
with Mozilla and will causes crashes, bizarre behaviour, etc...
