[KLUG Members] Ripping MP3's

I'm trying to figure out how to rip CD's to MP3's on
my Linux box. I'm running BSware 7.2 #13 on a K6-2
380Mhz /w 96MB Ram. I did a little reading, and
downloaded/installed a grip rpm. This seemed to come
up alright, but it seems to have trouble ripping
really slowly, it reports 1.2x speed when I have a 48x
drive. I know it likes to use cdparanoia so I
installed that rpm off of the cd. This seemed to go
well, but no more speed. The program also likes to
use Lame to convert the .wav files to mp3 so I
downloaded fresh Lame rpm's and installed them. When
I try to rip and mp3ify, it says I have a bad lame
executable. I typed in lame at the command prompt and
it came right up giving me instructions about
different switches I can use. I don't think the lame
is bad. All of this was done as root also. Any
thoughts / ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim
