It's been a LONG time since I've ripped from an audio CD,
so this reply may or may not be useful.

The one problem I remember having was setting the correct
endian on the CD drive.  In fact I had two CD drives at the
time and I had to set the endian different for each drive.

Try switching your endian and see if that helps.  (FWIW, YMMV :)
( "-c" / "-C" options?  Or was it "-r" / "R" options?)
