PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is
especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML. It
is a server-side scripting language that can make your website
interactive and dynamic, accessing databases and exchanging information
with other servers. PHP is well supported by the development community
with a -very- active newsgroup and continuing development. PHP is easy
to learn, fast to implement, and surprisingly agile in handling
web-related tasks and more.
