[KLUG Members] cd burning setup

I am trying to get everything setup for copying and
burning cd's on my machine.  

The system sees the burner and I can burn cd's.  The
problem is when I want to copy a cd.  x-cd-roast does
not see the cd-rom drive.  I have a line item in my
lilo.conf that says

append="hdd=ide-scsi"

I tried to add 

append="hdc=ide-scsi" 

or 

append="hdd=ide-scsi","hdc=ide-scsi"

but neither seem to want to work. Any ideas??
