Do you have two CDR drives in the system?
You only need the ide-scsi module on IDE cd _BURNERS_.
If your other drive is a normal CDROM (read only) drive,
do NOT load the module for it.

I create all my CDR's from the command line with cdrecord.
It's the most powerful, but NOT the most user friendly.
Depends on what you mean by "best". :-)
