>Interesting. I have ttfonts-1.0-4 and ttfonts-ja-1.0-7 installed but no TrueType fonts directory in the X11 path you gave. Mine are in /usr/share/fonts/default/TrueType

I'd assume, make sure your font server looks there (vi
/etc/X11/fs/config). If so it doesn't really matter where they are.
ttfonts on my machine DID put them in /usr/share/fonts/default/Truetype.
My /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Truetype must be an anachronism. But it is included
in the font server search path AS WELL AS the one in /usr/share so it all
comes out in the wash.
lnx01688:~ $rpm -qf /usr/lib/X11/fonts/
XFree86-4.1.0-3
lnx01688:~ $rpm -qf /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo
XFree86-4.1.0-3
lnx01688:~ $rpm -qf /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Truetype/
file /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Truetype is not owned by any package
lnx01688:~ $rpm -qf /usr/share/fonts/default/TrueType
