[KLUG Members] partition check?

Yes, Compaq has been known to do that. You -can- get back into the BIOS, but you typically need to download 1 or 2 SoftPaq's from them and shove it onto floppy disks -- which only come in .exe format if my memory serves me correctly. The BIOS config tool varies from model to model (logically) ... so you'll have to do some hunting on their website to find it.

When you get it right from the factory they put a little partition with all that software on it formatted as FAT. I have no idea what steps you'd need to take to restore that partition though if you ever wanted too. Perhaps somebody else on the list will know that, if that's your goal.

Unfortunitally this is compaq laptop computer and ever since I loaded Linux
I can no longer get into the BIOS configuration. From what I have read
Compaq is known for buting there BIOS on the HD. (If that makes any sence)

Thanks
