For ssh/sftp/scp and such: Putty. A google search will bring you right to it.

Second... X11 is network transparent, so a low-end Linux box running an X server on it is all you need to get a "thin-client" up and running. From the low-powered machine you ssh/telnet over to the high-end one, export your display (export DISPLAY="ip.of.thin.client:0") and then run the X app off the "big" server type box and let it display on the local one. I used to do it all the time from some Nice o2 SGI boxes running Irix to my puny Linux laptop when I was in college.

You'll need more details than that, but that should be enough to get you started and barking up the right trees.

Subject: [KLUG Members] windows software to talk to linux

Ok here is a good one maybe... well actually several.

First ... anyone have a good suggestion for a Windows
software package (free type) that will do ssh and
sftp?

Second ...I am wanting to setup some terminal server
(I know - it is a windows term) type stuff with Linux.
I am looking for two things.

Number one is that I need to find a free Xserver
software package for Windows so that we can run Linux
applications and/or desktop on Windows.

Number two is that I want to find a thin client type
of Xwindows terminal that will interface with Linux
well. Something relatively cheap I am thinking. This
is partly to show off some stuff at school and partly
because I would really like to setup a couple of
terminals around the house connected to my Linux box!
I know that when the thin client concept was big a few
years ago people like Wyse made stuff but I cannot
seem to find anything now that seems to be the ticket.

I know that if anyone knows the answer to these then
it will be someone on this list!

TIA
