Ever consider products from Bynari (http://www.bynari.com)? Improves
Email reliability not only on the server (InsightServer) but, even more
importantly, on the _client_ (InsightClient) as well. And they don't
force you to use their server, if you just want the client -- any
standard IMAP server will do.

If costs go down and reliability goes up, without significantly changing
the desktop so there's no "user retraining" involved, then it should
matter what runs the backend.

Which is why the DOJ case was flawed. Governments don't understand the
problem _until_ they look at the problem from the standpoint of a
_consumer_ instead of a "regulator." Hence why Open Source wasn't well
represented (if at all) in the case.
