Yesterday I received an announcement from Ximian about the newly
released Evolution version 1.2. So I installed red-carpet on my Redhat
8.0 workstation, subscribed to the Evolution channel and installed it.

To anyone else who may be considering doing the same, I HIGHLY recommend
you think twice. I found evolution 1.2 to be a total bug-fest. Once
every couple minutes I got a popup telling me that my IMAP server
disconnected unexpected. (my IMAP server is a stock Redhat 7.3 system)
It also had serious problems reading messages off my IMAP server, where
it work only work less than half the time, giving me popup errors when
it failed. (plus other bugs)

Having enough of it, I manually downgraded myself to the Evolution
version that comes on Redhat 8.0. Ximian upgrades 9 Redhat packages and
installs 5 packages of their own. Switching back is a real pain because
of dependency problems and file conflicts in the RPM's.

Just a warning to anyone thinking of trying the new Evolution.
I'd wait until a couple bug-fix releases . . . unless you're
real good at RPM dependency-hell to uninstall.
