   Well, let me answer this from experience. We won't discuss the fact my
boss does not see the need for ups's on servers but setting that point
aside....

   I've got 3 RH 7.2 servers all running ext3. No ups, etc. In my area power
and reliability do not go together. To answer your question, everything
comes back up just fine. I have had NO issues with ext3 and recovering from
sudden shutdowns. Then again, I'm not running 1tb partitions either.... My
20gb drive and recover in about 5-6 seconds....

    I would just to be safe.
