It is nice to see a positive article on this topic, finally.  But I do love the
quote "it can be freely downloaded, and apparently it can run as an independent
operating system to Windows".  Apparently?

One package his misses is qcad.  It possibly isn't in the same league as the
other packages he enumerates, but if all you need to do it look as AutoCAD files
and maybe work with some floor plans (all 2d stuff) it is reasonably
serviceable.  I took three years of drafting/CAD and was able to intuit how to
do just about everything I needed.  And it has versions for both Win32 and Linux.

qcad is to CAD much like what MySQL is to databases (needle needle ;).
