You can change the font path in /etc/X11/fs/config 
Then restart the font server & log off/on.
(just don't ask me what how to change it so it looks better :)

It's also  highly recommended to manually add proprietary fonts from a
windows installation to the font path for browsing web sites that
specify those fonts.

Redhat no longer uses sawmill (aka sawfish) as the window manager for
Gnome2.  It now defaults to metacity.  You can switch back to sawfish,
but it upgrades you from version to version 2 of sawfish, and some of
it's configuration has changed too.
